Lucy drew a picture of a christian person. I asked her if it was a picture of her and she said no.
Mum: Are you a Christian?
Lucy: No
Mum: Why not?
Lucy: Because I’m Australian!

Lucy weighs 45 1/2 pounds (90-100%) and is 45 1/2 inches tall (WAY over 100%).
Lucinda Rose Thoms is 4 years old! She was born in Australia at 11:15pm which conveniently turned out to be 9:15am US Eastern. This meant we could celebrate the exact time without having to stay up really late.
Lucy (jointly with Henry) received a playset for the backyard. It is very large and only just fitted in the garage. Andrew and I spent many many hours putting it together. We did it all in secret at night. Lucy has asked people to give her books for her birthday so in that line of thinking she thought we were building her a bookshelf. She was very pleased to find out that it was a playset with 3 swings, a slide, a rockwall and a picnic table.
Andrew took the day off work and took Lucy to Cracker Barrel for lunch. He also made pancakes for breakfast. I organised a playdate for her friends from the mom’s group and made vanilla vanilla cupcakes with purple coloured frosting. We also gave her 2 board games, some nail polish and bubble bath, a ladybug girl book, some sticker crafts, some drawing paper and a purple maglite.
On Saturday she is had a pony party and you can see her above dressed up as a cowgirl! (It was extremely hot. Henry lasted about 10 minutes in his suit and Lucy was sweating in her outfit)
So what is Lucy like at 4 years old?
Happy birthday gorgeous Lulu Ladybug. Now you can have 4 kisses on your nose before sleep!
When discussing the leftover cupcakes from her birthday playdate:
Lucy: Daddy you can take the cakes to work to share with your friends from Silex”
[How on earth did she know he works for Silex?]
When discussing going out for her birthday lunch with Dad:
Lucy: Daddy, Henry and me are going to Cracker Barrel for lunch
Mum: What about me?
Lucy: You can stay home and clean up
Mum: Thanks!!
Henry, Henry Benry, Huckleberry, Big Boy, Brudder. These are just some of the names that Henry will answer to.
On his birthday he officially had 6 teeth at various stages. He also had 2 others that were just cutting through his gums.
He’s had 2 haircuts. His hair grows really fast. I think we’ll be cutting his hair with clippers soon as it could get expensive going to the hairdresser every 2 months.
Sleeping has been a struggle this year. Since we’ve been back from NM we’ve made a big effort in this regard. He gave up his dummy/pacifier very easily, in fact he didn’t miss it at all. However he wasn’t happy about giving up his bottle of formula in the middle of the night. We started with just giving him water (he knew what we were doing and squealed loudly) and then he realised we weren’t giving in. Then a week later he had his first night with no disturbances. He’s had a few nights through but he’s still hungry at one point or another. The latest strategy is that we’re waking him at 11pm and feeding him some fruit.
He has stopped using bottles and now he uses sippy cups. Also he is now drinking cows milk.
He loves lamb (but did you expect anything else?) He likes most food.
He is starting to get clingy and doesn’t want Andrew or I to leave the room without him.
He gives the best cuddles especially when he is waking up.
He points.
He can sign fan. He is learning lights and more.
He has fabulous smiles.
He is sensitive to loud noises. If sissy shouts at him he will cry.
Loves dirt. Loves to play it in and eat it. Same goes for sand, grass, and gypsum.
Talks alot but we can’t understand anything except ‘dad’ and ‘bo’ (bottle)
He crosses his feet when he sits in his highchair.
Loves being chased (esp. when he is running away with something he’s not supposed to have)
If he sees an open door/gate he runs as fast as he can to get through.
His favourite stuffed toys are Tim (monkey) and Rupert (dog)
He can climb steps and anything else he puts his mind to.
He loves to pull towers, blocks and lego apart.
He LOVES his big sister Lucy. He wants to be with her and do what she is doing. He wants to pull her hair. Henry gives some of his biggest smiles to Lucy. He loves to be silly with Lucy.
He loves to drive the car with Dad down the driveway when Dad comes home from work.
He is such a happy easy going boy. We love having him in our family.
I took some photos of Henry today and I have chosen three that tell the story of his life at the moment: running, chewing and laughing.
Henry is walking. After taking his first steps on Lucy’s birthday at 9 months and 29 days, he is now at 10 months officially labelled a ‘walker’. go Huckleberry!

Henry is 10 months old. He is such a cuddly, pinchable, smiley boy that everyone adores him. He is very popular at church and I rarely hold him as there are so many willing arms.
Some other updates:
We can’t wait for 12 months – cow’s milk, turning the car seat around, walking etc
