I had a fabulous first week at home! I managed to buy most of the baby items that we hadn’t previously purchased including a pram (mountain buggy urban), a car seat, a nappy bag, a rocker and a bath. The pram and nappy bag are of course red! Dad (Grandad to the baby) had fun with the pram on the weekend and while he was running back and forth with it along the hallway managed to chip paint off an architrave so he ran off laughing.
I went to the doctor and found that I had managed to lose a kilo even though the bump is bigger! Obviously too much birthday cake last time. From the photo you can see that I washed all of the baby clothes last week. I even persuaded Andrew to stop working on the deck for a
little while in order to install a dimmer and power point in the baby’s room. He also helped to finish my chair that I have been reupholstering for 4 years! And I’m very pleased to say that the chair is finished.
Today I’m off to get the car seat fitted and buy nappies (they’re on special at Coles for $30 a box, yes exciting stuff!) My overall mission for this week is to pack a bag for the hospital. The pregnancy books recommend this is done at 34 weeks so I’m already behind the eight ball! This week Andrew and I are also working through some DVD’s on preparing for parenthood and hopefully will get through another session and at our ante-natal classes we are learning about caesareans.

Thanks to everyone who came to the baby shower, I had a great time catching up with you all. Andrew couldn’t believe how many presents we received! Thank you for your generosity. In case you’re interested mum took a total of 115 photos in 2 hours but I won’t be scrapbooking all of them! Special thanks to Katrina for organising everything, especially for making the invitations (each of them was unique) and organising the games!! Thanks to mum, Diane, Kellie and Erika for providing all of the great food and venue.
Today is my first day at home! However I still got up early to make sure Andrew wasn’t late for work. I’ve taken Sophie to Pooches Palace to get a hair cut (estimate is 2 hours but last time it took 4 hours) and I’m doing a lot of cooking today. This week I’m going to the doctor, getting another Anti D injection and hanging out with Katrina until she goes back to the UK.

I’ve made it to the last week of work! At the beginning of 2006 10 weeks of work loomed very large so I can’t believe that it has gone so fast. I have a major meeting on Wednesday that completes my project so I am going to have to work hard until then.
I saw Dr Morgans last week and he said that everything is very very good and to ignore anything anyone other than an obstetrician says to me. I have been very well this week and I’m looking forward to continue enjoying the hot weather and pool in the coming weeks.
See you at the baby shower on Sunday!

We are at the 32 week mark today. 2 weeks of work, then 6 weeks of holidays, I hope! Everything is going well. The nausea I had at the beginning lasted for about 4 weeks but I wasn’t sick; the heartburn I had a week or so ago that was waking me at 2am has disappeared; and my belly is growing. I’ve put on 7kgs to date and so far it’s all in the tummy area.
The baby known in the interim as JJDT (John-John Diaresa Teriane) is very active. On the train from Martin Place to Hurstville (about ½ hour) JJDT punched/kicked 359 times. I think I am going to have my hands full!
