It has been a very busy week! More than you can imagine.

Lucy slept through the night without any interruption last night! Yay! She had been in the habit of waking either around 10pm or 1am for a scream. This has been going on for a couple of weeks and suffice to say is exhausting for everyone. But last night she was great and we all got good sleep.

On Friday Andrew had the day off and we went for a drive down the coast ending up at Culburra. Lucy loved being at the beach but Andrew scared her throwing her around in the waves. Andrew and I ended up a little sunburnt.

On Saturday we attended Tim and Rachel’s wedding. It was a beautiful day and we had a great afternoon eating, drinking and playing with the other babies.

Around the house there is much progress. The pool fence is being put up as we speak. The plants have been delivered for the garden and are in situ. (I lugged them down the stairs yesterday and have no need to do any further exercise for at least a week!) The soil and gravel has been delivered with the turf to follow on Saturday. It is going to look awesome.

Lucy was left in her room playing with Bill (seen left). When I came back to check on her (everything was quiet) I found she had moved herself over to the change table and was gleefully pulling out all the nappies and throwing them around. I couldn’t help laughing! See the photo below

Thursdays seem to come around very fast! Lucy has the all clear from the doctors though this was not without a lot of angst from her parents in collecting multiple urine samples. Here is a photo of Lucy chewing her new havaianas.

Last week we had lunch at Kobe Jones with Kel. I highly recommend the NUMBER ONE SPECIAL (crab salad with avocado wrapped in snapper and baked with KJ’s cream sauce). Kel highly recommends the LOLLY POP SUSHI (a roll of tuna, snapper, salmon, crab salad, asparagus and smelt roe wrapped in thinly peeled cucumber with soy sauce vinaigrette). We had an awesome time and it was a very beautiful Sydney day. Lucy even had salmon pasta for lunch to join in with the seafood theme. Afterwards we ended up at grind and Lucy enjoyed dinner on South Cronulla beach.

Andrew and I went to the tennis! We saw the mens final at the Sydney International at Homebush. A great match between Blake and Moya. Apart from the (not unexpected) bad food available we had a great time while Dave & Kel (mostly Dave I believe) looked after Lucy for the night.

I did a St.John’s ambulance first aid course called ‘Caring for kids’. I also highly recommend this! I wasn’t looking forward to it but really enjoyed it and I firmly believe it should be compulsory for all parents. Heaps of things have changed so if you haven’t done a course for a while book one now (it’s only $85) http://www.stjohnnsw.com.au

Andrew got home from Tim’s bucks party at 4am and unfortunately woke up both Lucy and myself. One little girl was very cranky and didn’t sleep until 5am. I think Andrew got about 2 hours sleep before work!

The dishwasher is now really fixed (after two service visits) and the lawn mower was repaired as well. We still have no lawn!

After the excitement of the past few weeks, this week has been more mundane. But it has not been without its ups and downs.

On the awesome side of life we’re off to lunch with Kel at Kobe Jones today. Looking forward to some soft shell crab. Full report next week!

Ups

  • Morning tea in Cronulla with Michelle and Megan, followed by a quick coffee at Grind

  • Swimming in the pool each afternoon until Lucy’s lips quiver with cold. She giggles with laughter when she is bobbed up and down in the water
  • Going to the movies to see ‘Happy Feet’ while Lucy stayed with Grandma and Grandad
  • Lucy can sit up from lying down if her legs are held down
  • Downs

    • More urine samples, more visits to the clinic

  • A tired and cranky baby for all of Sunday due to missing her morning sleep
  • Lots and lots of poo!

Happy New Year! It’s now 2007 and it’s time for the first blog entry. It has been a busy week with Andrew on holidays!

Lots of things were done around the house including:

    • Andrew laid a concrete path with grandpa and levelled the backyard
    • Grandad finished the deck!
    • I painted the beams in the study (first coat!)

We had a barbeque lunch at Dave & Erika’s, a pork roast dinner with Dave & Kel and a farewell dinner for Adam (who got a special present of green shag pile carpet). We celebrated NYE in style at Channah & Jordan’s feasting on prawns and champagne with hibiscus flowers. Andrew let off lots of rockets and provided sparklers and glow sticks. Lucy was woken up to see the 9pm fireworks on TV and then went to sleep until 6:30am! She was awesome. Thanks to Barbara for the pancake breakfast!!

Lucy has been well but is tired from all the festivities! She can ‘click’ her tongue now which she does a lot! Surprisingly she likes swimming in the cold water in the pool. She is trying to crawl but is just managing to rotate herself in a wide circle. She loves playing with her Christmas toys esp. the farmyard. She has a number of soft toys – Franz the dog, Zadie a pink poodle, Bill the teddy bear, Jerome the dog, Melvyn the mouse and Reese the peanut butter cup doll.
