BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!! Our possessions move in a couple of days so things are frantic. Lucy is unperturbed however. She can now do ‘open shut them’ with her hands and does this constantly. She can wave goodbye and says ‘ba’ for bye. She is frequently found standing in her cot and can now climb up stairs. On a not fun note she has started pooing in the bath. Not every time but every second or third bath.

Here are some photos from the weekend when we spent some time with Channah, Jordan (Mr Kiwi), Kel and Dave.

Andrew got home safely on Monday and we all went down the coast for the day. Tuesday saw Lucy and I in the city to say farewell to lots of people at CBA (as well as our last visit to the Lindt shop for a while). Wednesday we had breakfast with Channah and Jordan (farewell!) and had the shower fixed. Thursday we had our last craft group (another farewell!). In between Lucy has been babysat by Nan and Grandma.

That’s all we have time for this week. Back to packing! Last mothers group tomorrow…

Here is Lucy looking gorgeous in her technicolour dreampod. She is now starting to assert her personality by deciding when she will eat, what she will play with and when she will co-operate in having her nappy changed. She is still sleeping extremely well from 6:30pm to 7am but we aren’t looking forward to the end of daylight savings on Sunday as it is likely to be a 6am start! Lucy is also able to crawl properly now but if she wants to get somewhere fast she goes back to commando crawling. She also has a very mysterious machine gun laugh.

Andrew is in Boston MA and it is snowing. The temperatures are pretty cold getting below zero each night but he is still working hard! We have been working hard here as well getting the fence put in, the shower leak fixed, various other plumbing jobs done, the pizza walls sanded and painted etc etc I had plaster dust in my eyes and up my nose – not a pleasant feeling! We also had some water problems in the junk room. Needless to say there are no smiling photos of the domestic workers! International work must be more fun!

We have been saying goodbye to lots of people lately and during the week we said farewell to our dog Sophie. She is now settled in to her new home and we wish her adieu! We also farewelled Katrina on Saturday and she managed to get herself into about 30 more photos. The doting auntie cuddled Lulu to death!

On the social front we have been very busy too. We have had dinner with Adam & Sarah, (clinic) mothers group here, (ante natal) mothers group here – pictured, afternoon tea with Kathryn and Sean, lunch with Angie, Nanna has babysat, Grandma has babysat … have I forgotten anyone?

Now we’re off to the Mr Dave & Mrs Kel’s new house. Can’t wait to see it (and maybe we’ll help unpack their kitchen!!)

Lucinda’s baptism was fantastic! Special thanks to the following people:

  • Kevin for the service
  • Lynda, Jordan, Dave & Lucas for music
  • Kellie for reading
  • Channah and Kel for the amazing cake
  • Grandma and Nan for bringing food
  • Kellie and Mark for making the pizza bases
  • Katrina for Lucy’s dress

Here are some of the photos:

The Sutherland branch of Andrew’s pizza is now temporarily closed and the sign will be coming down soon.

In other news Lucy is now clapping with abandon, waving on cue (mostly) and commando crawling wherever she is allowed. One of her top front teeth has broken through and the other one is trying to. She knows the word ‘dog’ and can point to or crawl to find a dog when asked to.

Heartfelt thanks to Channah and Jordan for babysitting Lucy last night. We were able to enjoy a great dinner at Kobe Jones at Cockle Bay. Lucy was HYSTERICAL for at least 20 minutes because she knew that we were going to go out without her. Poor Channah is now associated with abandonment! Thankfully Lucy went to sleep quickly after her tantrum and didn’t wake up until she heard our voices in the hallway when we got home.

Guess what? Katrina arrived in Sydney for a surprise visit as organised by mum and dad! I was totally shocked when she walked into the restaurant for my birthday lunch. Of course she was a doting auntie and rocked Lucy to sleep in her pram so we could enjoy our seafood platters.

Here is Lucy looking serene at Summersalt! She got some pretty dresses from Katrina (monsoon) and Krista (GAP). All the waitresses loved Lucy and Grandad was happy to show her off to pretty much every other table in the restaurant.

I had my first night out alone! Of course the three of us have been out a lot (and I mean a lot) but it’s the first time Andrew stayed home with Lucy while I went out. The girls from the mothers group organised a dinner at a local Italian restaurant and we had a great time without the bubs! I even wore my birthday present. However as you can imagine most talk centred about babies and childbirth. Not a table reservation for the faint hearted.

We went to craft last week, celebrated my birthday with the Thoms’ and kept packing. We also paid a visit to the SWAG bike-a-thon to say goodbye to the boys and families. 17 years is long time! We hosted bible study here at our house and hung out with grandma and auntie kat.

Lucy is now commando crawling with both legs which means she is very fast. She can quickly get from her room to the front door. She is getting into EVERYTHING! Hence the safety gate (which she hates). This week she has broken a lamp and worked out how to open the linen cupboard in order to chew metal coathangers. She loves duplo especially getting it out of the bucket and throwing it around.

Looking forward to Lucinda’s baptism on Sunday!!!!

A big week again! Andrew was away for mens convention, then we celebrated my birthday. Lots of food, friends and fun. Thanks Andrew for organising everything! We also organised our visas, had a couple of trips into the city and a couple of trips to Cronulla. In between we have been organising the house and getting lots of jobs done.

Lucy has started lots of amazing things this week. Her latest achievements are:

  • Points at everything with both her left and right pointer fingers (middle picture below)

  • Turns 360 degrees in the one spot whilst sitting
  • Commando crawls down the hall way
  • Waves goodbye
  • Claps her hands
  • Tries to stand up on furniture but forgets to hold on
