Lucy is 1½ years old! And what a fun journey it has been so far. She can walk and talk, feed herself, communicate what she wants, give great hugs and kisses, have temper tantrums, clean up her toys, create messes and make lots of noise and say ‘what?’ whilst pointing. She is 34.5 inches long (88 cm) and 28 lbs 5 oz (12.85 kgs). She is now wearing size 3! (And how good are American clothes that can be tumble dried) It amazes me sometimes all the places we have been able to go together. Lucy is so adaptable and flexible – she can sleep anywhere, eat anything and enjoys life. This month we had a weeks vacation in Asheville, Blowing Rock and Durham.
She is an excellent eater and has proven again over the past week to be very well behaved at restaurants. Her favourite food is cheese but she eats all sorts of things including olives, peas (yuk!) and goats cheese. Her word of the week is ‘more’ which she says frequently! When she is really hungry she says it and signs it at the same time!
Lucy continues to be an avid reader with her toy of choice being a good book. On our latest journey we listened to Charlotte’s Web and we are almost finished Wind in the Willows. Books with flaps to open are popular.
Andrew was away in Boston for a week and Lucy could tell he was not around. We had a few wakeful nights that week and it just goes to show how much children know about what is going on.
Currently Lucy has two obsessions: shoes and bracelets. It is amazing how many everyday items can be turned into bracelets! Check out the photo below.
Lucy is down to one sleep a day usually from 12:30-2pm. This has greatly reduced my free time but on the positive side she is now sleeping in to 7:30am/8am after going to bed at 7pm. Daylight savings changed yesterday so we’ll see if this continues!
I’m sure there are many more things that I haven’t remembered to write down but I hope this gives you a good picture of what Lucy is like at this age of discovery.
(I did forget to mention that Lucy completed her signing course as well as her first term of kindermusik. She loved both!)
