Since last week Henry has been smiling and laughing at his mama! I managed to capture this occassion on camera. It is really fun to make him smile and he is a happy little boy. I was wondering with the second child whether you as a parent still marvel at all the little things they do. My question was answered last night when Andrew came running into Lucy’s room, where I was putting her to bed, to tell me that Henry was watching the mobile from his change table. He told me that he was watching the movement of individual butterflies and moving his eyes together. So the answer to the question is undoubtedly yes, you do still marvel. All babies are amazing!
Lucy is loving being a big sister! She also loves being a mummy to her babies. Here she is with the baby bjorn carrying around Charlotte. I also have a photo of her feeding her babies but I might save that her 21st birthday party. She certainly has the message that babies only eat milk from mummy. The other day we went to Costco to buy groceries and had pizza for lunch. We saw an elder from our previous church and he joined us for lunch. He asked Lucy if Henry could eat some pizza too and she said “No!! He only drinks milk from mummy’s boobies.” She then proceeded to say boobies a hundred times whilst giggling. It was a little embarrassing!

Lucy is very good at making up words. Mostly they are nonsense words, with many of the proper names sounding sci-fi. A few weeks ago she made up a new word whilst we were shopping for cot sheets. She announced that we were having a boyby (a boy baby not a girl baby). Now she refers to Henry as the boyby.
Her teddy bear Bill has been nicknamed ‘Poohy’ for the past year and a half after we listened to the Winnie the Pooh audio books. When Henry was born he went from being referred to as Baby Thoms to Henry. At the exact same time Poohy became Bill again. (All her named toys are named after the author of the book I was reading at the time of naming, in this case Bill Bryson. We also have a Franz (Kafka), Fyodor (Dostoevsky), Charles (Dickens) and we had a Zadie (Smith). The dolls are called Fern and Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web) Since Henry became the boyby, Bill has been dubbed the billby because he is her baby. The girl has a logical mind!
Henry had his 2 week check up at the doctors yesterday. Interestingly the next visit is not until he is 2 months old which is quite different from the weekly weigh-ins at the baby health clinic in Australia. Here are his vital statistics:
Height: 22.7 inches (off the chart)
Weight: 9lbs 15 oz (87%)
Head: 39cm (94%)
BMI: 13.60

Lucy upgraded to a larger boogie board and took full advantage by catching waves in to shore by herself! (Andrew told me the by herself bit after the event so I wouldn’t freak out) This girl loves the water and even though it was too windy for even the kite surfers she didn’t want to go home. She also enjoyed her corndog and frozen custard from Kohls!

Lucy and her new board!

It was very very windy
