Bed time routine
Sat 29 Aug 2009
Lucy has a very specific bed time routine that she likes and she likes it to be done with her mum. Woe if Dad turns the light out or even enters the room!
1. She brushes her teeth (or gets her teeth brushed) At the moment she has ‘Winnie the Pooh’ blue berry toothpaste
2. She chooses 1 book to read and I read it to her
3. We pray
4. We sing songs in this order: Isaiah 53:6, Baa baa black sheep, ABC, The B.I.B.L.E, Jesus loves me, I get down (he lifts me up). Even though the order is fixed, she still has to suggest which song to sing next or she gets upset with me for pre-empting songs.
5. I turn the light off
6. We talk about what she is going to dream about that night (ie fireworks, stones, butterflies and other random things!) Sometimes I crawl into bed with her for this talk
7. She has a drink of water
8. She begs me to stay and we have a last hug and kiss (or 150)
9. I leave the room
First day at preschool
Lucy started preschool yesterday. She is attending Covenant Church preschool on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Here is a photo of her with her class bag (Fantastic Frogs) and she was very excited. She had an awesome time and can’t wait to go back!
7 weeks old

Henry moved into his cot last week. It happened so quickly that I didn’t get any photos of him sleeping in his bassinet (which was in the cot). He just got to a point that he had hardly any space so he was kicking off the bottom and hitting his head. So I just put him straight in the cot and whilst I was worried what would happen he just took it in his stride and went to sleep. He is now in size 1-2 nappies/diapers but when these run out I am putting him in size 2. He is a long boy!
Birth announcement
Thu 20 Aug 2009
I showed a friend of mine the original cross stitch that I had done for a new baby and she commented that compared to Lucy’s cross stitch the new one wasn’t in the same league. I agreed so I spent a long time searching for a cool boy cross stitch for Henry. Eventually I came across a UK website that designed name cross stitches. The trick was getting Andrew to agree on the name early enough so that I could have the sewing completed before the birth. We decided on Henry fairly quickly and I had everything finished except the ‘6′ before the birth (though I was hoping to sew in June instead of July). Here is the finished product framed and hung in Henry’s room.
